SS Side Stories

Stories behind the
Stories

Side Stories is my little corner of the internet dedicated to the stories behind art projects—the ideas, thoughts, processes, and unexpected details that often remain unseen once a work is finished. Here, I want to look beyond the final image, object, film, book, or project and explore everything that surrounds it: where an idea began, what shaped it, the experiments and decisions along the way, and the thoughts that quietly influenced the work. Sometimes, these stories come directly from the artists themselves; other times, they emerge from conversations, research, references, or the cultural and personal contexts surrounding a piece. The focus is not only on well-known names or mainstream works. Side Stories is also a place for projects that might otherwise pass quietly by—small experiments, overlooked works, unusual ideas, and creative practices that deserve a little more attention. I’m interested in the perspectives that don’t always fit neatly into the usual narrative of an artist or their work. Think of this as a collection of notes, observations, and discoveries. Some entries may be about the making of a project, while others may wander into the ideas, influences, places, people, or seemingly unrelated details that give a work its character. Together, they form a different way of looking at art: not just through what we see, but through the stories and thoughts that exist around it. Side Stories is ultimately about curiosity—the belief that every creative work has more than one story to tell, and that sometimes the most interesting ones are found just outside the frame.

A Little About Me

My name is Le Thanh Hoang Tung, though I usually go by Hoang Tung. I’m a high school student with a growing interest in the stories that exist behind novels—the ideas, inspirations, and small details that often remain hidden behind the finished page.

I’m especially curious about the creative process behind writing: where an idea comes from, what influences an author, and how personal experiences or unexpected discoveries can shape a story. Through Side Stories, I hope to explore these lesser-known sides of novels and share the perspectives and details that make them more interesting to me and, hopefully, to others as well.
